I have had the privilege of knowing Susan Eichhorn Young since the beginning of her Graduate Studies in Canada. Losing her to the Big Apple was not only a personal loss for me but one of the biggest losses that UWO Voice Faculty will ever truly understand. I knew that Susan would move on to greater things. She is a tour de force in vocal performance and vocal performance diagnostics.  She breathes you in, envelopes you and draws out the artist in you after she's had her way with your over-all technique.  Prepare to live, eat and sleep SINGING!  I, also, know that from my 25 year symbiotic marriage to operatic baritone, Theodore Baerg, Susan can't help but bring every student Thomas Young's enormous experience to her teaching, as well.  I am so honored to have been her motivational engine so many years ago.  Now, I only wish she were here to be mine.  I hope you know how fortunate you are to have Susan Eichhorn Young, south of the border.

"When I first started studying with Susan, I was vocally exhausted and disheartened. She took me under her wing and showed me how to love singing again. She inspires me to love my voice every day even when it doesn't cooperate. She has given me confidence that I know what I'm doing and has challenged me to work harder every day for the best possible sound. Susan's knowledge of the voice is infinite; she can always verbalize to me what my voice is doing in ways that I understand. She doesn't take excuses; she expects hard work and dedication and a love of music. She makes me want to be the best singer I can be. Susan does not just give voice lessons; she gives music to those who listen."

Susan Eichhorn Young changed my life. Before I trained with her, I would have never considered myself to be a singer. However, after only a year of studying with Susan, I was booking musicals and receiving acclaim for my vocal abilities. She is a true gem.

"Susan is one of the best vocal coaches I've ever worked with. She is inspirational in her sessions and really knows her stuff! I come out of her coachings having more knowledge than I went in with and am newly "recharged" in my vocal technique work. She also does some of the best musical theatre audition workshops I've ever taken. I would highly recommend her as a teacher/coach/guide to anyone from beginners to the most professional of actors and singers. She will truly change the way you work and think!"

"Susan is an excellent teacher who really invests in her students. With her thorough knowledge of the voice and body, she has helped me develop a way of singing that is both effortless and powerful. Thanks to Susan, I've been hitting notes I didn't know I had!"

Kristen Varvaris, soprano

"Susan is FANTASTIC.  When you start to work with Susan, it's a wonderful long term teacher/student relationship.  She can help you with your vocal needs, song choices, technique, and most importantly always staying true to yourself.  Her entire teaching method is practical, useful, and allows for each singer to discover their own voice."

"Susan allows me to overcome obstacles that others fail to see. She helps me not only excel technically as a singer, but is trans formative in my emotional  relationship and connectedness to the materials at hand.  I would not be able to perform or succeed at all without her continuous instinct, pedagogy, and motivation. She is my 'go to' in times of audition and performance need and one of the kindest, most spirited people I know. And an exceptional teacher in same!"

"Susan is more than a voice teacher to me. My lessons with her not only improve my musicality and vocal technique, she also knows the entertainment business and has helped get my career moving. Her dedication to me as her student is a quality that is difficult to find in many New York City voice teachers."

Matthew Ray, tenor

"Susan Eichhorn, simply put, is one of the most fabulous women I know.  As an artist, a teacher, and a human being, she is sensitive, empathetic, intelligent and articulate.  She is honest and strong, qualities more women should embrace at the level she achieves.  She embodies the phrase, 'I take my work seriously, but not myself.'  She has been an inspiration to me on many levels, and I can only hope that she stays in my life for many years to come."

Cara Brown, Lyric Soprano

"I have studied with Susan for nearly three years and in that time, my vocal technique has noticeably improved.  Lessons with Susan are threefold:  1) you receive top quality instruction on how to stretch your instrument further, 2) you receive a seasoned perspective on the business from a professional who genuinely cares, and 3) Susan coaches the acting aspect of the song as well.  I always leave our lessons feeling like I left the vocal gym; energized, fully stretched, and grounded.   Graduating from one of the country's top musical theater training conservatories, I have studied privately with many voice technicians, but, Susan is the teacher I choose to consistently train with.  Each lesson is tailored to where I am vocally that day depending on the weather and season.  I trust Susan and know she cares about me as an individual, artist, and student.  Her vocal warm ups are always new, demanding, and stretch my voice by enriching the tone and quality.

Susan is by far the best, most intuitive voice teacher I have ever studied with and I always look forward to each work session with her.  I recommend Susan to anyone who is interested in improving their vocal abilities through a tailored work session that creates immediate results.  If you want an inspiring lesson on the artistry of performance in voice and acting, Susan Eichhorn Young is the teacher for YOU!"

"When I came to Susan it was in desperation. I was having vocal issues I had not had in the previous 20 years of singing. Within the first lesson I learned that she was different than all my previous coaches. She asked about the task at hand, my style of music and singing, and asked about problems, and then immediately started to focus on a specific plan to achieve my goals.

She has an understanding of the physiological causes of underlying problems unlike any I have ever seen, but more importantly, she is able to quickly concentrate efforts, exercises and consciousness with almost immediate and lasting results.

I honestly feel I owe her for my recovery and for any success we see in the future. I will never again go into the studio without seeing Susan first. She is an angel on the shoulder of any singer and I feel lucky to have met and worked with her."

"I was never comfortable singing a note before I started studying with Susan. Now I can't wait to be around music.  Susan not only has tremendous skills to help any performer excel but makes me feel so comfortable I can't wait  for my next lesson.  I've been studying with Susan for three years now and would never think of looking anywhere else. I'm so glad we found each other. She is not only a superb teacher, but has become a trusted friend and colleague."

Brendan Ryan, Actor

"I went to Susan looking to expand my belt range. I knew she had experience, but didn't know how BRILLIANT she was until my first voice lesson. I used to only be able to belt to a C5, but now I comfortable belt up to a D5 and can mix-belt all the way to G. The technique Susan teaches encompasses a 'whole body' experience. She wants you to know exactly what your body is doing to make the voice work. Susan is patient, honest and only wants the best for her students. "
